Some patients need a little extra help to undergo dental treatment. For those nervous patients, sedation is available. This induces a state of ‘deep calm’, allowing everybody the opportunity to have the smile they desire!
Sedation Dentistry
So if you are really anxious first time we would use sedation to do the dentistry. My aim would be to try to eventually get you to no longer feel scared when you come in to the dentist, not feel anxious and be able to have your treatment without sedation.
Sedation dentistry allows even the most nervous of patients to undergo any dental treatment.
Some people refer to this treatment as “twilight sleep” as the patient is not completely sedated, but experiences a feeling of deep calm and well being. This procedure allows the patient to speak and respond to instructions from the dentist, whilst undergoing their treatment.
Some patients report that they remember nothing about the treatment, even though they were able to talk and respond the whole time!

I never judge anybody, we are here to help. My nurse she is experienced in helping nervous patients. 50% of patients are nervous of the dentist due to bad experiences they have had in the past.
Most people are nervous of the injection, so we try to make the injection as painless as possible. We use numbing gel, and smaller needles, taking it slowly so you feel in control.
You can put your hand up if you want me to stop doing something that you don’t like. We can see how we can relax you and calm you down.
Anything that can help reduce the anxiety.
FAQs about Sedation
One of the big advantages of the Quicksleeper is if you’ve ever had the injection that goes in the roof of your mouth, then you would know about that injection. It’s probably the most painful injection to give.
With the Quicksleeper, we don’t need to give that injection. Now, that reduces your anxiety, if you know you’re going to have a painless injection, it reduces the anxiety.
